...It's my review of Blue Harvest.
This is for you Steve.
My cousin lent me Blue Harvest, otherwise known as the Family Guy's Star Wars episode. He knows I'm a Star Wars fan and (especially these days) a good SW parody is as good as the real thing.
Well, it took me some time to get around to it, but I finally watched it and have got to say that it's pretty darn funny. It is very apparent that this episode was written and made by SW fans, for SW fans. The recreations of some scenes and the nuanced twists on dialogue were really funny. It's probably more for dudes, at least, I can say that my wife (who is not a SW fan) would not find it funny in any way, shape or form.
These days, it's shows like this and the Star Wars episode of Robot Chicken that are keeping SW relevant and fun in pop culture more than actual SW canon (for instance, see my review of Clone Wars a few days ago).
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of Family Guy. I've seen a couple episodes in my life, but it's a knowledge of Star Wars that lends to appreciation of this show.
Here's a taste:
For those wondering, the title "Blue Harvest" has nothing to do with the episode itself, but apparently, upon some Googling, Blue Harvest was a place-holder and alias title Lucas gave Return of the Jedi, and other subsequent SW projects, while under production to keep the media and fans off the scent.
Check it out; it's pretty funny.
